Caricom head mourns passing of Cecil Griffith

Caricom Secretary-General Edwin Carrington said it is with deep regret that he learnt of the passing of veteran journalist Cecil Griffith, AA.

In a press release, Carrington said as a journalist with the Guyana Broadcasting Service and later, the Voice of America, Griffith was one of the tenacious regional journalists who covered the Caricom ‘beat’. He said Griffith’s relinquishing of the beat years ago left a void in the coverage of Caricom issues, and his unmistakable dry wit and candour were noticeably absent, particularly at fora held at the Secretariat.

Carrington said the Region has lost a stalwart in both the print and broadcast media. He extended condolences to Griffith’s relatives on behalf of the Secretariat’s staff.
