Islamic School celebrates five years

The ISA Islamic School commemorated five years of scholarship last week with an in-house programme that highlighted its achievements and challenges last Thursday.

A press release from the school said since it opened its door on January 7, 2002 it has promoted a new system of Islamic/secular education in Guyana and strives to fulfil its mandate of providing for the educational, spiritual, moral and socio-emotional needs of the country’s youth. At enrolment the school had a population of 269 pupils and today boasts a student population of 480.

The school said it holds high its motto ‘Knowledge, Faith, and Morality’ and has, over the years, maintained a position of academic excellence. It said it has consistently gained 100% passes at both the Secondary Schools Entrance Examinations and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination obtaining top positions in the country.

The Murshid at the Guyana Islamic Trust, Wazir Baksh, delivered the feature presentation at the anniversary programme hosted at the school’s East Street location.
