Man allegedly found with ganja at roadblock remanded

Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan yesterday remanded to prison a Linden resident who was allegedly found with five kilogrammes of ganja in his possession at an East Bank Demerara (EBD) police roadblock.

According to the Georgetown Magistrate’s court reports Eston Samuels denied the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when he appeared at court.

Samuels, 32, of 1063 Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward, Linden on Monday, was travelling in a minibus on its way to Georgetown when, at Houston, EBD the bus was stopped at a police roadblock. Ranks conducted a search and allegedly found the cannabis in Samuels’ possession. As a result he was arrested and charged.

The matter will be called again on February 19.
