NSC expresses shock at passing of Dr Monica Benn

The National Sports Commis-sion (NSC) yesterday expressed shock at the passing of Dr Monica Benn.

Dr Benn, a chiropractor by profession also served as a physiotherapist assisting many athletes during their rehabilitation periods, a release from the NSC stated.

The release also noted that Dr. Benn served and held senior positions in various sports organizations in Guyana.

She was also an “advocate for women’s rights and was a member of the delegation which signed the Brighton Declaration for Equality for Women in Sport and Recreation,” the release stated.

“The National Sports Commission wishes to express its heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended families, relatives, associates, friends and all whose lives she warmly touched.

“Her life must be an inspiration and example for all and sundry. She was indeed a wonderful person,” stated the release which was signed by Director of Sport Neil Kumar.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff of the National Sports Commission may her soul have eternal rest,” the release ended.
