Security guard robbed place he was guarding -court hears

A security guard who allegedly robbed the place he was supposed to secure was yesterday refused bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Ceil Sullivan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Conrad Norton, 37, of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to simple larceny.

It is alleged that between February 15 and 19 at Georgetown he stole 30 steel rods, 2 lengths 4×4 steel, 6 lengths 2 inch steel pipe, and 2 lengths galvanized pipe, all to the total value of $243,000, property of M Dalip. Norton is said to have been working as a security guard at Dalip’s Trading when he stole the items which were in the yard.

His case was transferred to Court Three for March 14.
