Man remanded over break-in at DDL warehouse

A man accused of breaking into a Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) warehouse was remanded to prison when he made an appearance at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Komalram Sookdeo, 19, of 19 Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara (WCD) pleaded not guilty to a charge of breaking and entering a building with intent to commit a felony and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fazil Azeez. Sookedo in pleading to the charge told the court that he was going to pick carilla.

It is alleged that last Friday at Uitvlugt, WCD, he broke and

entered a DDL warehouse with intent to commit a felony. Following police investigations he was arrested and charged.

Police prosecutor Ramsahoye Rambajue informed the court that Sookdeo had a matter of a similar nature at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court and he was out on bail when he committed another offence and so the prosecution was opposing bail. He further said that the security guard had found Sookdeo inside the warehouse.

Sookdeo will return to court on April 17 at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
