NIS launches website

The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) yesterday launched its website, which will afford persons access to printable benefit forms cutting out the hassle of having to go to the local offices to collect them.

The website www.nis.-org.gy was launched yesterday at the scheme’s Brickdam head office.

Christine Lall, the programmer and webmistress, took Stabroek News through the website.

It contains, among other things, information about the scheme including the history, board, annual reports and various local offices, the various benefits and printable benefit forms, contributions, and NIS mailbag.

Persons visiting the site can also gain access to press releases.

Lall told this newspaper that contributors wanting to make claims can easily gain access to forms on the website. She said that all they need to do is fill out the form, print, and then sign it and drop it into the NIS office. Lall said this would be less time consuming for the contributor.

She said too that persons can gain access to the mail bag archives on this site. She explained that the NIS mailbag is a question and answer column that is featured in the newspaper. Persons, she said, will also be able to get answers to the frequently asked questions.

Those persons who are desirous of sending questions to the scheme can click on webmaster@nis.org.gy, which is at the bottom of every page on the website.

Speaking to Stabroek News at the launching ceremony, General Manager of NIS Patrick Martinborough said: “We needed this website
