SN assistant editor selected for US journalism fellowship

Stabroek News Assistant Editor, Cheryl Springer, is one of twelve newspaper editors from around the world selected for fellowships by the International Center For Journalists (ICFJ).

A release issued by the ICFJ said that the editors will spend time at US publications including the Los Angeles Times, the Houston Chronicle, Science magazine, and The Detroit News. Administered by the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE), the group was selected from almost 300 applicants representing 77 countries. It includes two Daniel Pearl Fellows from Syria and Malaysia who will spend time at leading Jewish publications in US in an effort to promote cross-cultural understanding. The group is being sponsored by the John S and James L Knight Foundation, the Hearst Corporation, the Paul Klebnikov Fund, the Daniel Pearl Foundation, the Scripps Howard Foundation and the World Editors Forum.
