Computer, all-terrain bike to boost services at Mahdia RDC

The Region Eight Regional Democratic Council (RDC) was given a boost recently when Minister Kellawan Lall handed over a computer system and an all-terrain vehicle to the community.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Lall, the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, handed over the $250,000 computer to Regional Chairman Senor Bell to enhance communication and facilitate the storing of records and other data. He also handed over the keys to a vehicle (a four-wheel motorbike) to help the officers conduct their work expeditiously. The bike, which cost $1.9M, will be used to assist with public works in the community. During the two-day visit to the Mahdia, Potaro/Siparuni communities Lall also commissioned a new RDC office estimated to cost $4.5M. It is furnished with a boardroom and an office complex.

Mahdia has a population of over 2500 residents and is one of the largest mining areas in Guyana.
