Duo charged with murdering Rosignol sawmill guard further remanded

Two men who are charged with murder were further remanded when they appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan at the Blairmont Court on Monday. The men, Andy Adonis and Sebastian Clato, are accused of murdering Nizamudeen Khan, a security guard attached to a Rosignol sawmill, on July 20 last.

According to reports the men who were said to be employed at the sawmill as well and resided in the compound had gone out to celebrate a colleague’s birthday and returned after 9 pm and demanded that Khan open the gate. Khan was said to have refused and when he finally agreed the men entered and allegedly dealt him several blows about the body with pieces of wood.

Khan was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died a few days later while undergoing treatment.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Hatty Anthony requested that the matter be adjourned to a date in November as the file which was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice had not returned as yet. The case was then put off for November 5.
