East Canje Lions conduct medical outreach

The East Canje Lions Club recently conducted a medical outreach at Betsy Ground and provided over 75 residents with free medical and dental treatments.

Vice president of the club, Devin Sookraj expressed gratitude to the administration of the New Amsterdam Hospital “for providing the drugs and to Dr. Sattaur and Dr. Benn for attending to the patients in the field.”

According to Sookraj, the club recently held a cultural show at the Welfare Ground at Canje to raise funds in an effort to continue to serve the community. Their immediate goals, he said, are to assist the under-privileged children from the different schools in Canje and to conduct educational sessions about HIV/AIDS and drug abuse.
