Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green said Deepavali provides an opportunity for the public to reflect on its words and deeds and to consider ways to connect goodness and light to the environment.
According to a press release, Green said citizens should use the festival to resolve to “shun dark attitudes, which adversely affect the integrity and welfare of our City and state, and embrace those principles, which are compatible with the sustainable development of our environment.”
