New German ambassador accredited

New German Ambassador Ernst Martens presented his credentials to President Bharrat Jagdeo

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release, following the accreditation ceremony Martens said he was looking forward to continued fruitful relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of renewable energy and environmental protection.

The ambassador said that Germany was also interested in any projects which would assist in the fight against global warming. “I feel this city [Georgetown] has to protect itself against the onslaught of the sea. One can only benefit from environmental protection from measures taken against global warming and from the use of renewable energy,” he said.
