Police on Monday arrested 18 minibus ‘touts’ at the various bus parks in the city during the zero tolerance traffic operations in progress, police said in a press release yesterday.
They were charged and appeared in court on Tuesday before Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin. Seven of them pleaded guilty and were ordered to pay fines ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.
The others pleaded not guilty and were each placed on bail to return to court on various dates during next month.
Meanwhile, 22 other persons were charged yesterday with crossing the roadways in breach of the traffic signals. They are expected to appear in court today.
