Fishermen’s bodies exhumed

Relatives yesterday witnessed the exhumations of the bodies of three fishermen, which had washed up on the Corentyne shores, and arranged to take them to the East Coast Demerara to perform the “last rites.”

The remains of the men, Patrick Narayan Parboo, 20; Rameshwar Gangadin, 24, and Mark “Buddy” Parshram, 29, are expected to be interred today. The men, all of Annandale Sand Reef, were part of a crew of six that left the Meadow Bank wharf on October 12, aboard the fishing vessel Captain Joel.

The other three men, Davendra Persaud, 21; Navendra Gangadin and Christopher Rooplall, 19, are still missing and relatives are preparing themselves for the sad news that they may have suffered the same fate. They said yesterday that they were frustrated over the way the situation was being handled. They said that since the incident surfaced in the media not one policeman had visited Annandale to carry out any investigation. “This is whey de men live. We doan know the motive.
