Grove woman died of blow to head

A post mortem preformed on the body of Chandrawattie Lalla has shown that the woman died from haemorrhage of the brain due to blunt trauma to the head. Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh performed the post mortem early yesterday.

The decomposed body of Lalla known as Anjanie Singh was found on Sunday at her home at Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, with marks of violence to her head.

Her reputed husband has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

According to sources close to the investigations the 30 year-old suspect has since admitted to killing his reputed wife. The couple had shared a common-law union for the past three years.

The woman’s remains were buried yesterday following the post mortem.

When Stabroek News visited the area yesterday, a relative of suspect said she had nothing to say on the matter. “All I know is dat he [the suspect] tek she about three years now and dem start living together. Me ain’t know way she come from. Me ain’t know nothing else,” the relatives said. Reports are that the mother of four of Post Office Street, Grove East Bank Demerara was discovered about 10:30 hours on Sunday after a report was made to the police about a stench coming the shack where the couple lived. Sources said the partly decomposed body was wrapped in a white sheet lying on a bed and the suspect was lying next to it.
