Banks DIH Limited’s long-standing Public Relations Officer Ian Patrick Hercules has died at the age of 48, according to the company’s Director of Human Resources, Rev Andrew Carto.
Carto told Stabroek News when contacted yesterday that Hercules passed away in New York, where he had been for the past six weeks. He said Hercules, who had been at Banks DIH for 22 years, had complained of feeling unwell and six weeks ago he left stating he was going overseas to have a medical check-up.
Hercules died around midday on Tuesday in New York and a sister informed the company yesterday.
Hercules joined the company as an events coordinator, but was later promoted to public relations officer, a position he held until his death.
“Ian was everything to this company. He was a very involved and committed employee. The Ian everyone knew outside is the Ian we knew on the inside. He had one face… and we are going to miss him,” Rev Carto said last evening. He said many staff members are yet to really accept that Hercules is no more.
