Magistrate Geeta Chandan yesterday remanded to prison a fisherman who allegedly raped a ten-year-old girl.
According to the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court report Frankie Wilson, 32, a fisherman of 134 Sawmill Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice was not required to plead to the indictable carnal knowledge charge. Wilson, between April 15, 2003 and April 14, 2006 allegedly raped the child.
Police Prosecutor Inspector Fazal Karimbaksh opposed bail.
Wilson was ordered to appear at the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court on January 8.
