Magistrate Geeta Chandan on Thursday sentenced a man to four months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to stealing a speaker from A. Ally & Sons General Store in New Amsterdam.
Mark Edwards of Sandvoort Village, Lochaber appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the theft of one Pyramid speaker valued $5,000 belonging to Faizal Ally.
Edwards told the court he was sorry for his actions and that he had been imprisoned for offences of a similar nature in the past.
Police Prosecutor Satrohan Diaram related that the defendant picked up the speaker and hid it under his shirt. He was observed acting in a suspicious manner and a search was carried out and the article was recovered.
