The heresy illustrates the power of the laity

Dear Editor,

There are contradictions in Dale Bisnauth’s letter. Why did he write if he thought he was disqualified? Why deny the laity’s role on evangelization, on rebuilding a church – an expression of the deepest religious aspirations of Christians, Hindus and Muslims who recognized it as part of our national heritage, a precious jewel on Main Street and the UN Heritage Committee?

Dale Bisnauth is only showing one aspect of the truth in the Arian Heresy. What Dr. Fredericks is showing is the important historical fact that over three hundred bishops backed the Arian Roman Emperor in the West for political reasons, whereas, the people kept on believing in the divinity of Christ. In the time of King Henry VIII, only one bishop, St. John Fisher backed the pope on no divorce, while the rest of British Bishops sided with the King to retain their palaces and money. King Henry executed Bishop Fisher. In the case of the recent resignation of the Polish Archbishop – Cardinal elect of Warsaw, the laity’s investigations of his spying for Russia caused him to resign in December 2006 minutes before the religious installation in the Cathedral to the applause of the Polish President and Laity.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Brock
