Youths carted off nearly $1M in items from video game store

Four youths who allegedly broke and entered a video game store and carted off close to $1M worth of items appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan on Monday.

Anthony Da Silva of 52 Pere Street, Kitty, Michael Coggens of 13 Creen Street, Kitty, Damien Bissoon and a 16-year-old of William Street, Kitty pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny and were granted $50,000 bail each.

According to the particulars of the charge, sometime between February 14 and 15 at Alexander Street, Kitty the four broke and entered the store and stole various items belonging to Audie Hendriques. The items which included one play station two system and an Xbox system, among other things, totalled $927,000 in value.

Attorney-at-law Mohamed Zafar who appeared for all four defendants told the court the boys had no previous brushes with the law and asked for bail in a reasonable sum. The prosecutor did not object to this on the grounds that some of the items were recovered by the police.

The matter comes up again on March 9.
