Bandits rob Better Hope NDC of over $2M

Five bandits who pretended to be taxpayers on Thursday robbed the Better Hope/La Bonne Intention Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) of more than $2M which represented deposits and wages.

The police, in a press release, said overseer Suzanne Singh and clerks Zaman Sawh and Shannon Ramnarain were in the NDC office when two men posing as taxpayers entered the building. As Sawh was preparing to take his lunch break, three men barged into the office and forced him and Ramnarain into the overseer’s office, tied them up and proceeded to rob them. The bandits, two of whom were armed, robbed the employees of jewellery and other articles and $15 000. They then removed $2,054,886 in cash and cheques from the NDC’s safe and then fled.

The NDC office is located in the Better Hope Community Centre Ground. The police say investigations are continuing.
