Holika Dhan or the burning of holika, which sets the stage for a day of gaiety and colour, takes place tonight at the Camptown Ground, Campbellville on the eve of Phagwah.
The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha will host Holi Utsav at the Kendra from 3 pm, a release from the body said. The Sabha is urging members of the public to celebrate Holi in a responsible manner and desist from negative practices.
“To play Holi use only abeer, abrack, powder and perfume; don’t indulge in playing with noxious and harmful substances. Respect people’s wishes, only smear colour on those who wish to engage in Phagwah playing,” the release said.
Countywide Phagwah celebrations take place tomorrow.
