Youth denies trying to steal motorcycle

A man who was allegedly seen wheeling away another man’s motorcycle was on Wednesday refused bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.

Alfred Benjamin, 20, of 16 Broad and High streets pleaded not guilty to the larceny charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on February 26 in Georgetown he stole one motorcycle valued at $165,000, property of Owen Archer. Archer is said to have parked his motorcycle on a street and upon returning he saw Benjamin pushing it away. He contacted the police who arrested Benjamin.

His case was transferred to Court Three for March 20.
