West Berbice fisher on larceny, break and enter charges

At the Blairmont Court on Monday, Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop placed a fisherman on $50,000 bail on a charge of larceny and attempting to commit a felony.

The court heard that on August 12 at Number 11 Village, West Coast Berbice, 46-year-old Bhim Evans reportedly stole US$100 and $750 from Ramrattan Khemraj.

It is also alleged that on September 27 the father of eight attempted to break and enter the grocery and off licence shop of Sundat Persaud. Police prosecutor Sergeant Grace Bristol said that the defendant was a “known character” and asked that bail be refused to ensure his appearance.

She said the matter was still being investigated and he had similar matters pending.

He is scheduled to return to the Fort Wellington Court on October 18.
