Cabinet unlikely to discuss shooting incident involving minister – Luncheon

Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Roger Luncheon yesterday said Cabinet would only discuss the shooting incident involving a government minister if it were introduced by that minister himself, or by Home Minister Clement Rohee.

A government minister was involved in an early-morning brawl on Sunday with another man at an East Coast Demerara rum shop, during which time he allegedly knocked the man down with his vehicle and then fired several shots at him. Police on the East Coast have conducted an investigation into the incident and have submitted a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. There has been no move by the DPP to institute charges against the minister so far.

Luncheon told reporters at his post-cabinet media briefing that the information that has been provided so far “seems to suggest that the police and the party involved are addressing the matter
