Six gunmen fire on police in Friendship

Two motorcyclists are patients of the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital after being involved in separate accidents last week Wednesday.

Muneshwar Sukhram of Number 71 Village, Corentyne, Berbice and Raymond Austin of South Ruimveldt are both unconscious and hooked up to life support machines. Their conditions have been listed as critical.

Sukhram was transferred to the city institution on Wednesday night from Fort Wellington Hospital because of the nature of the injuries he sustained to his head, chest and shoulder.

Reports about how he ended up in an accident are conflicting, as some have said he was the victim of a hit and run and others said he crashed head on into a concrete culvert.

The badly injured Sukhram was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital. He was later transferred to Fort Wellington Hospital and then to the city.

Meanwhile, sources told Stabroek News that in Austin’s case he was proceeding along Oronoque Street on Wednesday night when he was flung from his motorcycle seconds after it was hit by a car.

He was picked up in an unconscious condition and rushed to the hospital where he was admitted.
