As we recently observed the “Global Day for Prevention of Child Abuse” I wish to congratulate the Minister of Human Services, Ms Priya Manickchand on her effort to “Stamp it out” and save the children from the suffering of being abused.
As the leader of the National Islamic Sisters Association (NISA),which is the sisters group of the Guyana Islamic Trust, I must say that we (members of the group) admire the work of the minister and want to assure her that we are willing to work with her in bringing about some changes in the lives of these innocent children.
Our children are supposed to be protected by these “so-called” male relatives, who in most instances are the ones responsible for abusing them. It is heart-rending to read almost every day in the newspapers what our children are going through.
Children deserve a better life
