The Explore Guyana 2008 Magazine has some fabulous photographs

Dear Editor,

I was very fortunate to secure a copy of the “Explore Guyana 2008 Magazine” though it is not fully available to the general public until January 2008.

I will publicly admit that the cover design is awesome and whoever is the photographer of that photo shot, you did an excellent job. I love it and hands down, five stars goes to you.

The most disappointing aspect of the magazine is to see a half page article with a small photo supposedly representing what to expect at Carifesta 2008. It’s the biggest injustice to that major event in 2008 in terms of promoting and marketing of the event. I just can’t see it making any appeal to anyone to visit and support the event.

It now leaves the other magazines coming out of Guyana to home in on boosting your respective publications in contributing to the selling of the event internationally.

Unofficially, I think that GT&T’s Directory 2008 will be making some sort of contribution and it’s a good start.

This is my suggestion. Secure past photos from every Carifesta event and showcase them through your publications. This will definitely help potential visitors and supporters to have a better understanding of what the event is all about. To my mind, the top ten photos of the magazine were the one used by Michael Correia for The Myth of El Dorado, Diamonds are forever used by Anya Persaud, Colours bloom at Kaieteur used by Dr. Raquel Thomas, Roaming free, the wild cats of Guyana used by Waldyke Prince, Diane Mc Turk by Ben Ter Welle, Soaring in Kanuku used by Ajay Baksh, Festival of lights used by Dr Vindhya Persaud, A day at the races used by Petamber Persaud and Investing in Guyana used by Geoff Da Silva.

The best artwork of the magazine is by the graphic artist who is responsible for the background design for the article ” Myths & Folklore” by Petamber Persaud.

The magazine is good reading and I hope to get my full quota in January 2008 for my overseas counterparts as I have been doing since the first publication.

Yours faithfully,

T Pemberton
