Dear Editor,

The selection of the Guyana Cricket team for the Regional competition should be reviewed. The team comprises a number of youngsters with good potential but potential is not a substitute for experience and proven ability. These youngsters have no experience in Regional first-class cricket. The omission of Neil Mc Garrell is a serious error which must be corrected immediately if Guyana is to win the Regional competition. Mc Garrell is an all-rounder and his batting and bowling would be an invaluable asset to the team. The Guyana bowling lacks penetration and appears to be mediocre. This was quite noticeable when the bowlers failed to bowl out the Windward Islands side and allowed them to pile up a total of 392 runs. Guyana should also take note of the fact that two of our best batsmen (Shivnarine) Chanderpaul and (Ramnaresh) Sarwan are unavailable. I hope the selectors will include Mc Garrell in the team immediately.

Yours faithfully,

D. Jonas
