Georgetown Cricket Association under-19 competition

A resolute 89 from Chris Patadin allowed Everest Cricket Club to beat Gandhi Youth Organization by 45 runs in the Georgetown Cricket Association’s under-19 competition at the Everest Cricket Club ground yesterday.

Patadin and his opening partner Ryan Rajmangal put on 81 before Rajmangal was adjudged leg-before-wicket for 32 off the bowling of John Champayne.

Patadin subsequently brought up his fifty with a lofted drive to long off for four but Keoma Playtner took a brilliant catch to finally dismiss him in the penultimate over for a well played 89 which included five fours on a very heavy outfield as Everest closed on 146 for seven after 30 overs.

Jamal Taylor picked up three for 13 to lead the GYO bowling while diminutive Seon Allen grabbed two for 30.

GYO’s response stuttered early and did not recover as the team lost both Kwame Crosse and Kevin Singh to left-arm medium-pacer Rajendra Ramkellawan with the score 21 for two after six overs. Two consecutive run outs had them tottering at 35 for four.

At the end of thirty overs, GYO could only manage 101 for the loss of seven wickets.
