Farfan & Mendes invests $1.2M in RHT-YSC U-15 cricket team

The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHT-YSC) has received cricket sponsorship for its under-15 team from the Georgetown- based Farfan and Mendes Company Ltd for the 11th consecutive year. Apart from the sponsorship deal of $130,000 for 2007, the company has invested $1.2 million in the team. The sponsorship deal for 2007 covers the cost of transportation, meals, gears and practice balls.

The Farfan and Mendes sponsorship has enabled the club to have a strong nursery of cricketers who are fully prepared to represent the club at the under 17, 19 and 15 second and first division levels. The current membership of the under-15 team is 42 and a total of nine of them are junior national cricketers. RHT-YSC national players include Assad Fudadin, Abdel Fudaddin and Royston Crandon who have since represented their country at the senior level.

Club Secretary/ CEO Hilbert Foster noted that Farfan and Mendes Ltd is RHT-YSC’s second longest official sponsor after Courts (Guy) Inc. and is one of the main reasons why the club has been able to become one of Guyana’s leading cricket clubs. Meanwhile, in expressing thanks to the management of the company, Office Manager of the RHT-YSC Stanley Alexander pledged that the club and team would uphold the high tradition they have set for themselves. Alexander also said that discipline, hard work, team unity and a strong faith in God would remain their team formula for success.
