MYO DOCOL 15-over softball competition

Azad Azeez blasted five fours and three sixes scoring a blistering 56 to lead Rocky XI to a convincing 75 run defeat of Stewartville in the Muslim Youth Organization/DOCOL 15-over softball competition in West Demerara.

Rocky XI scored 154. Rajin Narine contributed 20 while Lionel Khan picked up three for 12 bowling for Stewartville. Stewartville never challenged the total and were routed for 79 in the 14th over despite a fighting 28 from Suresh Singh. Faizul Ali picked up three for 10 bowling for the victors.

The Reform XI defeated Diamond by six wickets. Diamond scored 86 led by Deonarine Baldeo with 26 and both Safraz Mustapha and Zamal Khan picked up three for nine bowling for the winners.

The Reform XI responded by blasting 87 for the loss of four wickets. Timur Mohammed top scored with 29 while Zaheer Hannif contributed 20. Baldeo grabbed two for 26 bowling for Diamond.

The Firecrew XI edged the Hustlers by four runs. Firecrew scored 87 led by Mohan Sukhu with 26 and Aleem Alli picked up five for 24 bowling for the Hustlers who in reply were bowled out for 83. Alli made it a good all-round performance scoring 20 while Rohan Balkissoon picked three for 14 and Robin Singh grabbed three for 15 bowling for the victors.

The Leonora Youth handily defeated the Anna Catherina Sports Club (ACSC) by a 52 run margin. Leonora amassed 157 for eight led by Jeteendra Kishore’s sparkling 43 and Ganesh Rambarose’s 20. Vishaul Singh grabbed two for five bowling for ACSC while Bharat Bisson led the batting with 23. As they were bowled out for 105 Rambarose picked up four for 10 and Amit Kowlessar three for 12 bowling for Leonora.

The Rangers XI trounced the Cornelia West Undertakers by a whopping 115 runs. The Rangers blasted 165 for seven led by a solid 46 from Amir Nizamudeen and Safraz Karim with 26. Jaipaul Sukhu picked up four for 22 bowling for the Undertakers who in reply were skittled out for 49 despite Richard Sylvester’s 21 runs. Reo Karim grabbed five for four bowling for Rangers XI.

In Ruimzeight XI’s match against Granville they defeated their opponents by 46 runs. Mahendra Balgobin scored 39 to lead Ruimzeight to 107 for nine and Kenrick Marks picked up four for 12 bowling for Granville. Granville’s Linden Ogle led the team with 28 could only manage 61. Keeram Ramana who picked up three for 10 and Mahendra Chaitram who grabbed two for two were the main wreckers.

In their second match RockyXI beat Diamond by five wickets. Diamond scored 84 all-out led by Diaram Munir with 22. Davendra Kursial grabbed three for nine bowling for Rocky XI who responded by blasting 84 for five.

The Rangers XI got a walk-over from Meten-Meer-Zorg Sports club in their second scheduled contest.
