Christ Church Secondary old students body pursuing Carl Hooper landmark project

In keeping with the spirit of Cricket World Cup 2007, the Old Students’ Association of Christ Church Secondary is planning to put down a landmark at the school in honour of former West Indies cricket captain and old student Carl Hooper.

President of the Old Students’ Association, Adrian Cole, told Stabroek Sport in an interview that “since the World Cup is in the air and Guyana will be a part of it, the association felt that it would be an honour for them to make Carl Hooper’s name a landmark in the history of cricket since so many visitors will be coming to the country.”

And in light of the project, Cole is calling on all members of the association to attend a meeting at the School on Saturday, February 3rd from 13:00 hrs. The meeting will allow for discussions on the means to acquire funds to complete the project, including plans for a Walk-A-Thon.

The association will be erecting an 8’X 12′ billboard portrait of Carl Hooper in front of the school. The portrait will be for viewing by visitors to the school as well as overseas nationals who will be here for World Cup Cricket. Meanwhile the school board will be working on enhancing the environment of the school as well as painting the western and southern sides of the building.

Cole also noted that the school had produced some of the most outstanding persons in the society. Assistant Commissioner Larry George was named among the outstanding persons who attended the school.

Kelliann Clark, owner of K&VC, and Paul Anderson are the association’s secretary and treasurer respectively.
