Enterprise defeats Malteenoes by six runs in Hand-In-Hand final

Enterprise yesterday scored a narrow six run victory over Malteenoes in the rain-affected final of the Hand-In-Hand second division cricket competition.

Enterprise won the toss and batted reaching 105-4 off 26.4 overs when the players were forced to leave the field after rain made an unwelcome intervention at just around 12.30pm.

Latchman Yadram was unbeaten on 34 not out while former national Under-19 player Howard Chance grabbed 2-27 and Shawn Thompson 1-23. When the game eventually resumed at approximately 3.15pm, Malteenoes were left to score 106 runs for victory in the same amount of overs Enterprise faced.

However, despite 35 from opener Shemroy Barrington, 18 from Clive Andries and 14 from Delroy Jacobs, Malteenoes were bowled out for 99 from 25.5 overs.

Off-spinner Sultan Safdar, later named man of the match captured 2-17 and Lakeram Dindyal 2-16.

The winning team took home $60,000 while the runners-up received $40,000.

Safdar received $6000.
