GFA Chubby Under-13 League…

With the same name as the Brazilian footballing ace, the least one would expect is that he scores goals and that is just what young Guyanese footballer Romario Andrews did.

The Thomas United player struck a hat-trick of goals to enable his team to defeat Alpha United 4-0 on Saturday as the Georegetown Football Association (GFA)Chubby U-13 league competition continued at the Tucville ground.

Andrews almost single-handedly took Alpha United out of the match when he netted the first two goals early in the first half. Those goals came in the ninth and 10th minutes respectively, which allowed Thomas United to go into half time sitting pretty.

Andrews then returned to the score sheet in the 60th minute to complete his hat- trick which was then followed by a Devon Harvey goal just two minutes later to make the score 4-0 in favour of Thomas United.

Of the other four games played that day, GFC was the only other team to gain a victory, which came in the form of a walk-over since Western Tigers failed to show up at game time.

In other results, Pele and Renaissance finally achieved their first point of the GFA U-13 League, which came from draws in their matches against Camptown and Santos respectively.

Kevin Barrow was on target for Renaissance in the 43rd minute but Amuneke Rogers robbed his team of victory when he netted the equalizer for Santos in the 59th minute.

In the Camptown versus Pele match up, neither team managed to score in the allotted 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, unbeaten points leaders Uprising managed to maintain their unbeaten status after surviving a scare from Fruta Conquerors.

Uprising’s Patrick Murray found the back of the net in the 57th minute after Pernel Shultz of Fruta Conquerors had scored in the 11th minute of the game.

After their six matches, Uprising are all alone out front with 16 points from their five wins and one draw, with Fruta Conquerors and Santos trailing in second and third positions respectively.

Although Santos and Conquerors both have 11 points from their five matches, Santos gains the advantage because of superior goal difference.
