Jackson stuns rivals

Ian Jackson secured two dominant victories in the Alliance For Change/ Continental Cycle Club’s Maxi Perreira & Marlis Archer memorial criterium event held last Sunday on the outer Circuit of the National Park.

Jackson gave a stunning performance to capture the Open 10-lap race sponsored by the AFC which was the feature event of the day.

Jackson finished the event in the time of one hour, two minutes and forty seconds to claim the first place prize of $15000.00.

Second was 14-year-old Christopher Holder, who turned in a more than respectable finish one place ahead of Darren Allen who won four of the allotted five prime prizes.

Tyrone Hamilton, Geron Williams and Junior Niles finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

In the category 1 & 2, 3 & 4 – & lap event, Robin Persaud claimed first prize and the $8000.00 that accompanied it in the seven-lap race for categories 1-4 cyclists. Leer Nunes was second place and took the runner-up prize of $6000.00.

Eric Sankar finished third while junior Niles and Allen finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Geron Williams managed to out sprint Chris Persaud to claim victory and $6000.00 in the Junior/Juvenile five-lap race.

Enzo Matthews finished third while fourth place went to Christopher Holder.

Jackson gained a second victory in the Veterans’ U-45 three-lap race. Kennard Lovell was second and Linden Blackman, third.

Randolph Toussaint enjoyed victory in the veterans’ Over-45 three-lap race with Compton Persaud and Walter Issacs occupying second and third positions respectively.

The Mountain Bike Open event was won by Jamal Bentley from Shawn Frank. Berbician Neil Reece was third.

In the BMX 9-12-years-old one-lap event, Naomi Singh secured victory ahead of Teon Joseph and Tariq Baskh respectively, while Crystal Blackman won the BMX 6-9years-old one-lap event. Asif Shaw won the BMX 12-14years-old one-lap race while Jonathan Fagundes claimed an impressive win in the BMX Open race from Trevon McKenzie and Kennard Lovell jnr.
