Chubby U-13 League…

Wins by Uprising and Santos in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Chubby U-13 league competition has set up the possibility of an exciting showdown between the two teams to decide the winners of the inaugural competition.

Playing at the Tucville ground yesterday Uprising maintained their lead at the top of the points standings with a 4-0 mauling of Pele courtesy of a first half hat-trick from Devon Harris in the eighth, 20th and 25th minutes respectively which was supported by Kimra Braithwaite’s 45th minute strike.

The unbeaten Uprising are on 22 points gained from seven wins and one draw and their final game will be against Santos on October 27.

Santos, who are in second place with 17 points are still in with an outside chance of lifting the title. They will however need to win their remaining two matches against Alpha on Saturday and their final-round game against Uprising.

They edged Fruta Conquerors 2-1 on Saturday through a double from Amuneke Rogers who scored both goals from the penalty spot in the 50th and 57th minutes. Fruta Conquerors’ goal came in the 32nd minute through Pernell Schultz.

Thomas United also edged GFC 2-1 through a double from Romario Andrews in the 40th and 42nd minutes while GFC’s Shamar Barrow netted a consolation goal for his team in the 55th minute.

And, Camptown behind goals from Jason Williams and Ozea Small in the 24th and 28th minute respectively defeated Alpha United 2-0.

Meanwhile in the De Sinco U-17 football competition there were wins for Fruta Conquerors, Western Tigers and Beacon while Santos and Camptown played to a draw at the Camptown ground.

Fruta Conquerors whipped Renaissance 4-1 with Eon Alleyne hitting home a double in the third and 27th minutes, while Kiefer Adams and Nickel Permaul slotted home goals in the 54th and 57th minutes. Shaquille Mc Donald scored for Renais-sance in the 30th minute.

In other results, Western Tigers defeated Thomas United 2-0 with goals from Manasseh Primo and Paul Bobb in the 14th and 29th minutes, while GFC and Pele played to a 1-1 draw with Matthew Cato’s 30th minute goal being neutralized by Danile Wilson’s 65th minute strike.
