Chubby U-13 league could end on dramatic note today

Can Santos come from behind or will Uprising hold on? After several weeks of invigorating youth football, the Chubby Under-13 league will see its last matches unfold today at the Tucville ground when the above question will be answered.

As usual play will commence at 8.15am with the opening encounter crucial in determining the eventual winners.

Uprising are favourites to cart off the title. They not only lead the points standings with 22 points but they are also unbeaten.

Their opponents today, Santos, are also unbeaten but are two points behind and a draw will be enough for Uprising to `rise up’ and collect the championship trophy at the conclusion of the encounter.

But one can rest assured that a draw will be the last thing on the minds of the Santos players and so a keenly contested game just might be in the offing.

Another exciting match-up should be the Fruta Conquerors versus Thomas United encounter which will ultimately decide the third-placed team.

Fruta Conquerors, who are currently in fourth position with 17 points, will have to dig deep to overcome Thomas United who holds a narrow one-point advantage and occupies the third position.

The presentation of prizes will be done after completion of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Football Association /De Sinco Under-17 competition will continue with five matches this afternoon at three different venues.

The Tucville Ground will host a double header from 14:00h when Alpha United, who are in fifth position with 10 points come up against third-placed Western Tigers, who are three points ahead.

At 16:00h, Pele will try to improve on their fourth position (11 points) when they meet sixth-placed Fruta Conquerors who have 10 points.

And, over at the Camptown ground, Santos and Thomas United will try to elevate themselves from the bottom of the points standings at 14:00h while Camptown, in seventh position will attempt to take advantage over Renaissance, who are still without a point.

The last of the five matches will feature Georgetown Football Club, who will look to extend their unbeaten streak against Beacon who are also unbeaten.
