Guyana wins rugby encounter 29-10

Guyana Over-35 rugby players scored a convincing 29-10 victory over Trinidad and Tobago Enthusiasts in their feature rugby match played yesterday at the National Park.

Guyana’s most valuable player Leonardo Butcher sent his team in the lead with a try in the ninth minute of play but Conrad Arjoon missed the conversion.

Five minutes later Christopher O’Donaghue went over the try line to push Guyana further ahead and this time Arjoon converted.

In the second session, Arjoon scored a try but once again failed to convert and shortly afterwards Dexter De Souza (Enthusiasts MVP) scored a try for the Trinidadians but Guyanese Alair George, who played for the Enthusiasts missed the conversion.

Shortly after Butcher went over the try line once again to push the Guyanese further ahead but De Souza bounced back once again for the Trinidadians.

In the final session of play Terrance Mc Almont scored a try which was converted by Troy Yhip.

The Guyanese have now scored three successive wins against the Trinidadians in as many years.

The Trinidadians are expected to be in action again today in the Yamaha Caribs 15th Anniversary Sevens Tournament billed for the National Park.

Scrum down time is 10:00 hours.
