Persaud returns to challenge Goodluck in today’s Crown Mining shoot

The Crown Mining Challenge Shield will be at stake in today’s rifle shooting competition at the Timehri Rifle ranges starting at 11:00 hours.

Ransford Goodluck, who won last weekend’s Record shoot is expected to face a strong challenge from national captain Mahendra Persaud who missed the last event.

Other contenders for the Shield are Richard Fields, Dane Blair, Ryan Sampson, Claude Duguid and Paul Slowe. Competition will be over the 300, 600 and 1000-yard ranges.

And, the NRA Silver Medal will be up for grabs next Sunday at 300, 600 and 900 yards.

The Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) disclosed that the Challenge Shield will be presented to the winner at the end of today’s shoot, while the NRA Silver Medal will be presented at the end of year presentation ceremony.

Meanwhile, the National Championships will take place on November 12th, 19th and 20th and a number of prizes will be at stake in the three-day event.

The prizes include the Dowridge Memorial for the 300 yards aggregate, Lushington – seven round aggregate, Wood David 10 round aggregate, Aubrey Tappin short range aggregate, Junior Sports Bar aggregate and the Wood Stock aggregate, Denise Carryl long range aggregate and the Sigmund Douglas grand aggregate.
