East Coast first- division team draws first blood

The East Coast first-division team drew first blood by defeating Lusignan Sports Club (LSC) by 17 runs in the first game of the East Coast zone of the ANSA McAL/Pepsi Twenty/20 first – division cricket competition.

The game was played at the Lusignan Community Centre ground on Friday.

Batting first, East Coast first division compiled 167-9 off the allotted 20 overs. Leading the way were Sultan Safdar, 66 (4x6s,3x4s) and Zaheer Mohammed, 63 (7x6s,1×4).

Bowling for Lusignan, left-arm spinner, Narvan Singh, bagged 3-32 and Chandrika Jeenarine, 2-19.

Lusignan, in reply, were all out for 151: K. Deosarran top-scored with 61 (4x6s,3x4s); and Hiralall Hera, 32 (3x6s, 3x4s).

Bowling for the East Coast team, Z. Mohammed claimed 4-9; Videsh Lall, 3-36 and Darren Peters, 2-18.
