$60,000 bail on jewels theft charge

A 22-year-old man who allegedly stole a pair of diamond earrings and a gold chain from a woman was yesterday placed on $60,000 bail when he was brought before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Leon Murray of 35 Bent Street, Wortmanville pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.

It is alleged that between January 27-29 Murray stole one pair of diamond earrings and a gold chain at a total value of $240,000 from a woman.

According to reports Murray admitted to stealing the articles. However, in his defence all he said is he couldn’t remember anything.

The matter continues on February 21 in Court Two.
