Police constable on carnal knowledge charge

A police constable was yesterday remanded on the charge of carnal knowledge of a minor by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

Constable Cotrell Krammer, 21, of Sherima Police Station, Essequibo River was said to have had carnal knowledge of a ten-year-old child on January 3 in Georgetown. According to the police prosecutor the accused had sexual intercourse and sodomised the child. Krammer, who resides at Kamarang compound, was reprimanded by the magistrate for having a smirk on his face when she was speaking to him. He had nothing to say in defence of himself and will return to court on February 26.

Meanwhile in the same court 45-year-old Rickford Edwards was charged with the indecent assault of a 15-year-old girl. Edwards was remanded and is to return to court on February 29.
