A 41-year-old watch vendor who stole two tins of insecticide from a Water Street store was placed on a year’s bond to keep the peace on Wednesday, when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Salem Khan of 96 Barr Street, Kitty pleaded guilty “with explanation” to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
On February 5 Khan stole two tins of insecticide valued $2,094 from a Water Street store. In his explanation to the court, Khan said he was forced to commit the act because a fellow watch vendor whom he owed $2,000 threatened to kill him if he didn’t repay the debt on the day in question.
After listening to his explanation, the magistrate placed him on a bond to keep the peace for 12 months.
