Police checking report Tenisha contacted mother

Police yesterday said that they had received a report from the mother of missing teenager Tenisha Morgan on Tuesday saying that she was stuck on a dam surrounded by bush with a river on one side.

But up to press time last evening no progress had been reported.

On January 18, the teen who was heavily pregnant had travelled to Georgetown to stay with relatives in Kitty until she was ready to deliver. However while at the Berbice bus park she began experiencing labour pains and was placed in a taxi by public-spirited citizens. That was the last time she was seen.

Contacted yesterday police Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said that they have a statement from the teen’s mother, Waple Morgan stating that she had received a call from her daughter.

Persaud told Stabroek News that the mother said that her daughter told her that she was walking on a dam with bushes all around and there was a river running on one side.

The crime chief said that following the report members of the joint services conducted aerial searches on Tuesday and yesterday in an effort to locate the teen who was heavily pregnant when she mysteriously vanished on January 18.

He added that police are currently making efforts to trace the origin of the phone call.

This newspaper was told that the aerial searches are being conducted over all the major waterways in the country.

Meanwhile police are still seeking the help of the public to locate two men who they believe may aid them with their investigations into the teen’s disappearance.

Late Tuesday night, police issued a wanted bulletin for Manu Durant called ‘Manu’, a 34-year-old Friendship, East Coast Demerara resident.

Police said that Durant whose last known addresses are Lot 140 and 125 Friendship is dark in complexion and is 5 feet three inches tall.

And two weeks after Morgan mysteriously vanished law enforcement authorities, said that they were looking for the minibus driver who may have assisted Morgan at the Berbice bus park on the night that she disappeared.

Through a statement the police appealed to the driver to contact them but to date, Stabroek News understands that he has not come forward.

There has been speculation that Morgan is the girlfriend of Guyana’s most wanted Rondell `Fineman’ Rawlins, but her relatives have repeatedly denied this.

Anxiety began to spread when a man purporting to be Rawlins called the police and threatened to retaliate if the missing teen was not found.
