Sandhills man battered to death

A Berbice man was on Saturday evening chopped and battered to death by two men while in a camp with a female with whom he had a relationship.

Rakesh Rajaram, 31 of Sandhills, Berbice River was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam hospital around 6:45 pm.

Police in a press release yesterday said investigations have since revealed that Rajaram and the woman were in the camp when the two men, one of whom is suspected to be a relative of hers, attacked.

Police said Rajaram was chopped about the body and was also beaten with a piece of wood.

Two persons have been arrested and are assisting the police with the investigations.
