Sprinter Roger Gill killed in Brooklyn car crash

Athlete Roger Gill, who represented Guyana at the 1996 Summer Olympics, died early on Sunday morning, after the car he was in crashed into a truck in Brooklyn, New York.

According to a report in the online edition of New York Newsday, the driver of the car, Warren Davies, 35, died on the spot.

The report said investigators believe the driver was speeding in Brooklyn’s Canarsie area, as the truck which he hit was stationary and empty at the time of the accident.

Gill, who was also 35 years old, died later at a hospital, investigators told the newspaper.
