$478M contract for GWI gets green light

Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon said government has cleared four multi-million-dollar contracts including $478M for the Guyana Water Inc (GWI).

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release a contract valued at $26,937,515M has been cleared for the security sector. The project is for the purchase of five 4×4 pick-up trucks.

In the public works sector a contract valued $28,023,318 has been cleared for the routine maintenance of the West Coast Demerara Public Road from Lot 2 Stewartville Village to the Parika Stelling. A $36,674,598 contract was also given the green light for maintenance works on the East Bank Demerara Public Road from Lot 1, Ruimveldt Police Station to Relief Village.

Additionally, a contract valued $478,258,314 has been cleared in the housing and water sector for the installation by GWI of transmission mains and district metered areas. Also, in the education sector a $38,747,200 contract was cleared for the supply of computers, accessories and peripherals for primary schools.
