Man snatched woman’s phone, then kissed her -court hears

Odwin David of 62 Hadfield Street, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny from the person and his lawyer made an application to the court for reasonable bail to be granted.

According to the virtual complainant (VC) on March 5 she was walking along the street when the accused approached and warned her to be quiet. He then reportedly took away her phone and promptly kissed her on the cheek before fleeing.

Reports are that on the day in question David was released from prison after serving time for a similar offence but a few hours later he allegedly committed this offence. Considering that he was a repeat offender, the prosecution objected to bail.

David’s lawyer told the court that his client was in a bicycle accident two years ago and suffered head injuries which affected him mentally. Meanwhile, David repeatedly denied having kissed the girl.

The matter continues on March 14.
